📜 About the Charity

The Gau Mata Sanrakshan Mission is one of the most sacred initiatives of the APMT Foundation, built on the belief that the cow is not just an animal, but a symbol of motherhood, nourishment, and divine protection. Revered in our culture as “Gau Mata” — the mother who gives without asking — the cow has nurtured generations with her milk, warmth, and presence.

Unfortunately, modern society has forgotten the reverence once held for these gentle beings. From slaughter for meat to abandonment when they stop giving milk, cows are often mistreated, neglected, and left to suffer. Our mission is to restore the dignity, care, and protection of cows, while also creating awareness about their importance in Indian tradition and sustainable living.

⚠️ Challenges

The road to cow protection is filled with challenges, many of which are deeply rooted in economic and social behavior:

Illegal Cow Slaughter and Cow Smuggling: Despite bans in various states, illegal trade continues, causing immense suffering and violence.
Abandonment of Aged or Sick Cows: Once cows stop producing milk, many owners leave them on the streets to fend for themselves.
Lack of Awareness: Many don’t understand the cultural, spiritual, and ecological value cows bring to society.
Street Accidents: Stray cows are frequently hit by vehicles or eat plastic waste, leading to painful deaths.
No Respect in Death: When cows die, they are often discarded like waste. This goes against the Indian tradition of performing respectful last rites.

✅ How We Are Solving This Problem

At APMT Foundation, we aim to create a society where cows are respected, protected, and celebrated as part of our extended family. Here’s how we’re making that a reality:

Cow Shelters (Gau Shalas): We maintain and support shelters that care for sick, old, or abandoned cows with proper food, medical care, and love.
Awareness Drives: We conduct educational campaigns to reawaken cultural values, especially in youth, about why the cow is considered “Gau Mata”.
Feeding Programs: Daily “Gau Grass” (cow fodder) distribution to ensure no street cow goes hungry.
Ritual Preservation: We encourage and organize respectful last rites for cows that have passed away, treating them as we would our own family.
Legal Support: We report illegal cow transport and slaughter activities, and work with local authorities to rescue animals in danger.
Advocacy for Meat Ban: We promote the ban on cow slaughter and beef consumption, especially through community engagement and spiritual campaigns.

Our mission is not just about protecting cows — it’s about rebuilding the sacred bond between humans and animals, where coexistence is rooted in compassion and duty.
